Jason Bourne is the title character and the protagonist in a series of novels and subsequent film adaptations. The character was created by novelist Robert Ludlum. The novel was adapted into a feature film of the same name in 2002 and starred Matt Damon in the lead role. Jason Bourne is but one of many aliases used by David Webb, a career Force Reconnaissance Marine Captain, and Foreign Service Officer.

Years later, a black ops arm of the CIA, called “Treadstone Seventy-One” after a building on New York’s Seventy-First Street, was formed to eliminate the notorious Carlos the Jackal.
